Ion Mihalache 315
We designed 4 generous lofts for the building at 315th Ion Mihalache Bd., Bucharest. The urban regulation provided we did not stray far from the original modernist aesthetic of the facade with emphasis on the original symmetry.
We used light materials (wooden pannels) for the exterior and interior walls. The roof’s structure has been rebuilt from wooden trusses, respecting the original shape. Just as expected, the real challenge was the cumbersome process of obtaining the building authorisation, especially regarding property rights, as the attic used to be shared in unequal parts by the apartment owners of the building.
